From Dark Beginnings
Working on this St. Armands Circle full home reno was an absolute joy for us. We took an outdated home and performed a much-needed interior upgrade. When we first entered the home before any construction work began, we stepped into a really dark interior with a lot of faded yellows and different, disconnected flooring variations throughout the home. We knew the first thing that had to be done was lighten up the entire space. Working with the homeowner, we came up with a design to give the by-the-Bay home a more transitional, coastal feel. It’s the perfect style of any St. Armands home.
Sand Beneath Your Feet
The transformation started with the flooring. In this case, we updated the floor to a very light color to give it the look of sand on the beach. Then we put all white on the walls but left some of the natural dark wood beams the homeowner had. This served as a really great, strong accent. We carried that throughout the home and towards the kitchen. We used that dark accent as an influence for the hood in the kitchen to complement and have a nice flow throughout the home.
A Honey Look & Oasis Feel
One of the great ideas in the kitchen of this full home reno was closing off a window that let us create a wonderful wall. We could feature an eye-catching marble with a honey oil rubbed bronze accent. We used that same honey oil rubbed bronze as accent hardware features and light features that really complemented the kitchen as a whole.
On the other side of the home was a Jack and Jill bathroom. This was a very small bathroom with a very tight space you could hardly turn around in. In order to create more space, we took out a wall where two people could share the bathroom much more comfortably. We took into account the special features of the shower, adding a bench seat, a rain shower head, and paying attention to the plumbing fixtures to create that popular “oasis” feel. The tile throughout this bathroom is your transitional cool tones of white and grays, once again complementing the overall flow.
Old Style is Renewed
The garage doubled as the laundry room. The old-style washing machine and dryer was in a very awkward place in the garage. We created a little more usable-friendly access right as you come off the kitchen and into the garage with a wall where we created a special space for the new laundry room.
This Sarasota full home reno design is a beautiful coastal design that fits snuggly in an equally beautiful coastal location on the edge of Sarasota Bay.
