What Remodeling Project Needs a Permit?

This question comes up a lot. To be honest, most projects require a permit. It’s pretty much when your project involves more than two trades, whether it’s electrical and plumbing, framing, or even if it’s just taking down a high counter and putting all of your cabinets back; there are certain municipalities that still require us to have a permit. It’s best to expect you’re going to need one.

A permit adds value to your renovation. If you go to sell the property down the road and that work has been permitted, potential buyers will see you’ve done the renovation right. It just adds that extra value to that renovation process, and it makes sure you’re getting licensed people like us involved who work with licensed subcontractors. You’re making sure you’re protecting that investment you’re making.
