Fall is Here
Now is the perfect time to start getting ready for the holiday season when it comes to your home. Changing your home up during the fall gives us a little change and something to look forward to. Any time you can mix it up a little, it just puts a smile on your face. Here are five way you can spice up your fall décor this year.
1. Don’t Be Afraid of Color
Color invokes a sense of happiness and joy. That’s what we all look forward to when we enter the holiday season. A lot of people might go for more neutral colors during the fall, but there’s no reason you can’t add a pop of bright color, especially here in Florida where we don’t get the change of colors in the leaves. Colors we’re seeing now are blush tones, pinks, and dark or muted blues, unexpected colors that you can combine with those burnt oranges. It really just adds an extra texture and element to the space and it makes it fun.
2. It’s Okay to Change Your Artwork
Many of us put up portraits or an inspirational quote on the wall where it stays all year long. Switch these out. Our default is to just change things around the house on the coffee table or dining room table and ignore the walls, but why not add some seasonal wall art to add that extra element to your space to help elevate the look of the season? And of course, it’s fun. You’re coming home to a little different space.
3. Keep Fresh Flowers in Your Space
There’s just something about that floral arrangement. You see it, you smell it. It’s a great way to experiment with color. You can pick a lot of crazy colors for your floral arrangement that you might not want in your home permanently, so it’s a good way to experiment with different colors for your space.
4. Use Throw Pillows and Blankets
These are easy and quick changes, and they’re not difficult to store. If you have something that is very specific to Thanksgiving or Christmas, you’re not going to want to have that out all year. Changing out the pillows, the throw on the foot of your bed, or even a blanket in your living room adds that color or little bit of extra texture to your space for each season.
5. It’s Okay to Mix Patterns
This caters to that sense of fun and lightheartedness. I know it’s a bit counterintuitive to mix patterns, but you’re seeing it a lot in fashion now. When you mix and match different things for the season, you get a little more creative to experiment with different things that wouldn’t necessarily be the norm or something you’d want every day, but it adds a dynamic perspective to the design for your space.
