2022 Kitchen Trends According to Houzz

A New Houzz Study

Major kitchen remodels are on the rise now more than ever. According to a 2022 U.S. Kitchen Trends Study from a survey of more than 2,000 U.S. homeowners on Houzz, the overall hiring of kitchen renovation professionals is at its highest level in four years. As we start off 2022, Houzz reports homeowners are most interested in countertops, high-tech appliances, and islands when it comes to planning their kitchen remodel. Let’s take a closer look.

Prioritizing Countertops

Countertops have been the most upgraded feature in a kitchen remodel. Houzz reports nine in 10 homeowners upgrade their countertop in some way. Engineered quartz and granite are the most popular countertop materials. In choosing an island countertop material to contrast the other countertops in the kitchen, the most common are butcher block and wood slab.

Appliances Love Their High-Tech

Appliances are the second most common feature homeowners upgrade in their kitchen remodel. More and more appliances are being upgraded with high-tech features. The most popular kitchen appliance features are wireless and smart phone controls. Everything must be mobile-friendly.

Islands are the New Work Desks

More and more homeowners are using their kitchen island as a workspace, whether it’s a homework place for the kids or an arts and crafts place. Because of the increased use, kitchen islands are getting bigger. Two in five islands are more than seven feet long, and most islands have light fixtures above them to make the space brighter.
